In 70% cruise today, RPM readout started wildly fluctulating between 2700 and 800 or so, changing quickly. When I got in the pattern and reduced power below 60% or so, the problem went away. Landed and ran the engine up to takeoff power and it was OK.

Anybody see this or have any ideas ?
