1965 pa28 140
ammeter works sometimes and sometimes the needle sticks
had an A&P check the system and yes the generator is working and the system is charging correctly

I cant find that this needle is mandatory in the VFR day MEL according to the FAA.

but since the plane has a generator and 12v system, I believe the instrument is part of the MEL.
