iPad with or without internal GPS

I just added the Stratus ADS-B in and out. Now I’m getting an IPad I am an older pilot so I think I’ll get the bigger one to see it better. I know some have an internal GPS and some don’t. It is my understanding that I don’t need that upgrade (internal GPS) on the IPad since I have the Stratus? Any opinions on that? I don’t mind spending the money but would like to know what’s necessary and what my fellow younger more tech savvy pilots recommend
