I recently had some upgraded avionics installed and since then have had background static in my comms. I always had static in the comm #2 which is a Garmin SL-30, but lately also in comm#1 which is a GNS-480. I thought it might be my led position lights. I run nav lights all the time because I have a Tail Beacon. When i turn off the nav lights, the problem stops and the comms are as clear as a bell.

Today I took out both nav lights and powered up the radios and had the static with no leds installed. I cleaned up the ground to the Tail Beacon and still no luck.

Has anyone had this kind of problem? I am suspecting the rotary switch that turns the nav lights on and the overhead lighting. Is this a direction worth persuing?

Thanks
