I came across this on the Beech site. It originates from the VAL Avionics website and appears to be a pretty good description of the criteria and methodology for determining the appropriateness of installation of non-TSO, PMA, STC, etc. stuff on certified aircraft.
Thought I would pass it along for those that are interested in this type of stuff.
