That lease issue with hangars got my lawyer-son-in-law's attention when I had him look over my hangar purchase.  After much research, he told me that that is the standard deal.


With that said, I doubt that an airport that is trying to keep GA business is going to screw around with taking hangars from those who constructed them.  Mostly, the lease is there because they can't legally sell that land, and the airport authority needs/wants ultimate control.  Our hangars are on their third 20 year lease - $365 per quarter for admin fees, insurance, electric, etc.  I look at mine as an investment.  The plane....is not an investment, just a money pit.
