Had the auto-extend kick in during a climb over Amarillo TX (don’t know why - that’s a different dilemma). The result was that the ear on the nose gear cylinder broke off. Landed safely at Tradewind.

Can’t find a replacement cylinder. Part number is 35797-002, but apparently there are 2 types??? The mechanic at the field ordered one at $3200, but this one wasn’t right. Found a used one on eBay, but apparently this one was wrong too.

Mechanic at English Field Aviation (whom I don’t know) now says he’s found one for $3600, that there are two suppliers and this one should be correct.

Does that sound correct? Is $3600 reasonable for a cylinder? And leads on a less expensive alternative would be very welcome! Left my plane in TX and flew home commercial as I try to figure out what to do.

TIA for any advice,

Pete
