Does anyone know how to fix/adjust a seat adjustment spring (on a 1983 PA28-161) that will no longer allow the pilot to adjust the seat to a specific height but all the time goes to the lowest position?

The adjustment spring is only 3 years old and worked fine until I had the seat out for upholstery.

I can't see what could possibly have happened, but I guess the upholstery shop had to dismantle the seat when changing the cover.

Any input and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike
