Does anyone have any insight as to why my headset cords seem to have such poor life? I have several headsets and the vinyl insulation on the cords is cracking and disintegrating. These are not cheap headsets...one is a David Clark. It seems to be unique to aviation headsets, since other vinyl insulated stuff I have isn't having the same problem. And no, I'm not storing them in the plane or leaving them on the glare shield. They seem to be deteriorating while stored in the headset bags at my house. Is there something unique about the insulation on these cords?

I guess I'll have to replace the cords...and the replacements aren't cheap.
