Thanks to the forum members for the kind words and offers to assist me after the engine issue last week.
One of the reasons I love General Aviation is the culture, while there are certainly some exceptions, most who enjoy this hobby will go out of their way to assist.
Plane is still sitting in Virginia...I have talked to a nearby mechanic who is willing to help do the engine removal and installation.
I have talked to several engine shops and have decided to pull the engine and send it off for overhaul to "new" specs.
Most likely, wont get full core value for my engine as there is visible damage to the case, but will still be less expensive than outright purchase of an engine.
Next steps are to work with the shop and the mechanic to coordinate schedules.
Not gonna be a fast process, but it is getting started.

Thoughts and opinions welcomed.
