Hi all. I recently upgraded my 430 to a 650xi. It's pretty slick. And it's proving to take some getting-used-to. Today's question:

I've been flying practice approaches with it. Today I tried to do the RNAV 02 +LPV into KEEN. I set up a FP from KFIT to ONDEC to KEEN, then told it that approach with IAF JUNPU. That all worked fine until I was approaching JUNPU, and saw other traffic not too far in front of me. I initially thought he was turning out of the way, so I let it turn in at JUNPU, but then he called a 10 mile final (!) to KEEN. So I went to break off the approach.

I couldn't figure out how to simply tell it to restart the approach. I tried entering Direct ONDEC again, but the 650 was having none of it. I finally deleted the entire FP, then entered a new one. On the second try, when approaching JUNPU, it decided I was going to hold. I couldn't figure out how to get it to skip that. I tried turning onto the approach course manually, thinking it might figure it out, but no. I tried editing the flight plan to delete the hold entry, and exit, but that didn't help. I couldn't find a way to get it to just fly the approach.

I know some of y'all have this gear. How should I be thinking about this thing, and what steps can I take when I want to reprogram something quickly. If I was in actual trying to figure this out, it would have been a scary and dangerous situation.

Thanks in advance!
