I had a GFC 500 installed this summer. Unit has worked flawlessly up until this week. This is the first time since summer the temperatures have been below 40°. The airplane on multiple flights this week tends to porpoise 20 Feet in level flight very rapidly where you get sick within a couple minutes. On climb out for example at 300 ft./min. it will go up 300 and then rapidly bring the nose down and then back up again continuously till you reach your altitude. Tried multiple things could not find the source of the problem. Garmin said to fly with alternate static. So today I flew it with the alternate static open and it flew flawlessly. Perfectly level flight smooth and steady climbs.. Garmin says this is an issue with PA 28’s and cold weather. Has anyone else out out there had a problem. I’m in a 1973 arrow.
