Back in late October, I panel mounted an Aerea 660, ADS B In info supplied from a hard wired GDL 50. Very pleased with the set up, however before the 2 hour flight home from the avionics shop was over, the GDL shut down and would not power up. I suspected that the unit was not getting power in the airplane. At home I attempted to charge the unit, still nothing, deader than a doornail. The dealer promptly replaced the GDL.
Fast forward to today, about 1:45 minutes into a 2 hour flight, the new GDL shutdown. I turned it back on, it restarted, then promptly shutdown again. Once again to rule out power issues, at home, I placed it on the charger, still starts but shuts down within a minute.
Very frustrating, so back to Garmin for a replacement, hopefully #3 is the charm.
