I’d like to upgrade my 1974 PA32/260 panel with the newly Certified Garmin G3X But am getting conflicting responses as to whether I can do it unless I also remove the old Century Autocontrol II “autopilot “( which works just fine) and replace it with a Garmin autopilot

The Century autopilot works well with my current Garmin G5 in heading mode. I haven’t been able to get it to track a VOR or GPS... that’s another head scratcher.

1) Has anyone Installed a G3X in a Piper Cherokee? If so what other mods were needed?

2) Can I keep my current Century Autocontrol II?

Here is what I currently have installed in my Cherokee:

Garmin G5 w/ GAD29b
Garmin GMA 345 Audio panel
Garmin GNC 255 Nav/Comm
Piper Auto pilot
Garmin GMU 11 Magnetometer
King KY 97A Comm
King KNS 80 RNAV
Trig TT31 Transponder
Century Autocontrol II

I still have the vacuum system with Artificial Horizon and Directional Gyro installed.
