Found crack in the wing

Over the holiday I decided to install a Garmin GMU 11 in the left wing, thinking if the fuel tank were removed it would make it easier to install the wiring, plus I could do a detailed inspection on the spar and replace the hoses for the fuel vent.

To my shock I found a crack in the wing walk support structure, my concern is installing a double could cause more harm than good. If it were any other location, I would not have an issue, but I would have to drill into the spar which is a big concern a slip of the drill or other damage would make a bigger issue.

My question is, anyone else had this issue and what was the fix.

Also, the surrounding area are is good should, but should I look for other damage.
