Last night marked the first official flight for pleasure in my "new" airplane. The previous flights were all maintenance related flights.

Took my wife up, we cruised around and watched the sunset - 1.2 hobbs. Now that the carpet is in, what a difference! A few of the maintenance flights took place with no carpet. Its a different airplane without carpet. An audible experience, for sure.

There is evidence to suggest there are some frequency gaps in my COM 1 (Narco MK12) radio. I couldn't hale Tampa Approach on 119.9 over Zephyrhills airport. I couldn't tune in 118.97 AWOS at ZPH, couldn't get a radio check on 123.07 CTAF. But, later on, I picked up 133.67, 123.77, 123.05, no problem. Intermittent maybe? Several subsequent radio checks came back 5 by 5. So, I don't know. I tried COM 2 - a dinosaur King 170 - and it worked OK, but I cannot tune .025 MHZ intervals, so am somewhat limited. So, I might end up dropping in a snazzy new COM 2 to replace the King and using it as primary until I do more avionics work, currently planned for next Spring, and replace COM 1.

Besides that radio snafu, the airplane performed perfectly. Smooth, fast, perfect.

Exciting times ahead!
