Just three days until the first formation clinic for Pipers and Grummans at KAIK, Aiken, SC. Open to all PA28, PA32, PA34, and PA18 Pipers, plus all Grumman Tigers, Cheetahs, and Travelers, this no charge clinic is one of ten qualifying clinics to fly the Cherokees to Oshkosh (CtO) Mass Arrival at OSH in 2022. Other type groups, Bonanzas, Cessnas, Mooneys, RVs, etc. have their own clinics.

There is no more fun way to go to OSH than with a group of pilots along with their friends and families to create our own camp, complete with hospitality tent in the North 40. Most of us camp together with our planes. A great way to socialize before and after each day at the show. People to dine with and share knowledge.

The greatest thing is flying in a formation of several dozen airplanes through airspace cleared for us. Then landing and taxiing with choreographed precision.

The other cool thing is how much it improves your stick and rudder skills.

The KAIK clinic is this Friday afternoon, February 25 through mid-day Sunday the 27th. Details are at Home - Cherokees to Oshkosh. Check out the “Schedule” for details.

You must complete the online ground school prior to attending a clinic, which consists of five subject specific videos of approximately a half hour each. You can find them under the “Documents” down menu under “CtO Training Resources.

You will need to become a registered user which will enable you to sign up for clinics, the mass arrival and order extra shirts, or a jacket if you’d like. (Shirts and jackets are only for those who fly the arrival). One shirt is included for each person who registers.

The final requirement is signing a waiver online, and uploading copies of your pilot’s license, liability insurance, and your medical.

Requirements can be seen at: Requirements - Cherokees to Oshkosh.

CtO pilots range from current and former military and airline pilots with over 34,000 hours, to 200 hour VFR pilots. We fly with precision, but we are not in an airshow, we are flying to one, so we fly a bit farther apart than who perform. For us it is about safety first which includes comfort.

Check it out. The first clinic is our Southeast most location in South Carolina. The rest of the clinics between mid-March and the last weekend in June are in: southern North Carolina at 60J, Ocean Isle Beach; Sacramento, CA at KMCC; Mt. Pleasant, TX at KOSA; Gallatin, TN just outside Nashville at KXNX ; Columbus, OH at KTZR; Jefferson City, MO, KJEF; Preston, MN, KFKA; Madras, OR, S33; and Gladwin, MI, KGDW.

Go to Home - Cherokees to Oshkosh and click on the “Register Now” button on the left side of the home page.
