I really messed up today at a controlled airport. After touching down I stayed on the runway "expecting" the tower to tell me where to exit. I passed the final exit and actually had to back taxi (per the towers instruction). A plane that was on final had to do a go around. After leaving the runway I told the tower that I had waited for instructions. The controller told me I should have taken the first taxiway I came too. I don't know what it the world I was thinking! A true brain dead moment. Thankfully, other than forcing a go around, no harm was done. Do you think I will have an repercussions from the FAA over this?
