Everchas, here's a photo of a Curtain Hanger. The small hole is a through hole, the large hole is not. I've also drawn this up in AutoCad, dimensioned it, and converted it to a pdf. I will attempt to attach the pdf later tonight.

Arrow shafts (from Archery shops) make good, stiff curtain rods, but you would need to increase the diameter of the big hole slightly in order to accomodate one.
