The engine 'spark advance' (Timing) is stamped on the engine Data Plate attached to the engine. If it has been modified, the spark advance should have been over-stamped. Generally, after a short cool down period, set the RPM between 1000-1500 RPM before putting the mixture to 'Cut Off'. It should cut clean. Do you turn your fuel off after shut down? Not a good idea. The fuel OFF position is generally a maintenance function OR when called for in a Non-Normal checklist. The RSA fuel servo likes to be kept moist with fuel or the rubber seals will perish and cause issues.
