I still have a 121.5 ELT in my Toga. I’m told that I may not be able to get new batteries for it next year. Besides upgrading to a 243 ELT what are my options? I hear people replacing the batteries with simple D cells. Does that work if I build set? I doubt that is legal? Are batteries going to be available somewhere? I fly in a very populated area of the north east and for me this is mostly a paperwork issue at an annual.
