I've got an old Narco NAV-122 in my panel. It is a self-contained receiver and indicator that up until recently has worked just fine - right up until I was smack dab in the middle of my instrument rating. It has developed a problem with the glideslope portion of the indicator, presumably because of the workout I've been giving it. It seems like a reception issue to me.
I contacted my field's avionics guy and he pretty much said it's old, all the manuals aren't available, and I'm not touching it. He gave me the number to another shop in GA who at one time did some repairs on the units, but he wasn't sure that they still would and told me my description sounded like a sensitivity issue inside of the unit to him.
What are good options in replacing the unit, aside from a used unit on eBay or Barnstormers? Anyone have experience with doing that? I'd prefer to keep costs at a minimum right now - as much as I'd like to rip it out and replace with a WAAS GPS and indicator, finances do not allow such shenanigans at the moment.
