I just renewed my policy. I spent considerably more money on a $1M smooth policy versus a $1M that just pays $100k per passenger. $100k wouldn't even touch the cost of severe injury or death for a passenger. Honestly, neither would $1M but it might help. I honestly don't feel very protected by any of this. :-(
