Did I flood it?

Lycoming o 360. Cold start yesterday, 5 shots of prime, full rich, cracked throttle, hit starter and engine caught on 2nd rotation. Pulled throttle to idle, idling at 5/600 rpm, tried increasing throttle and it wanted to die, pulled back to idle and would continue running. Tried more throttle couple more times with same results...let it idle for about a minute, then gave it some throttle and it throttled right up. I did just have it topped off with fuel, and I did check the sumps for any water and none detected.
Thoughts?
