Recently installed the Stratus ESG for my ADSB in/out solution. It has contained within the system a WAAS GPS. This whole system connects with Foreflight via WiFi to the iPad.

Last night, it took several minutes (around 8-10) for the GPS to establish its position. So long in fact I was suspecting a problem.

Doing a little research last night, one possible cause for this delay in capturing the satellites was turning on the GPS (Stratus ESG) in a different location than where it was turned off.

This sounds like what I did last night on our flight home: taxied over from parking to the fuel stand, fueled up and then, after run-up at the end of the runway, switched on the xponder, which of course, couldn't capture the satellites until after we were in flight (planned on avoiding the Mode C veil on the way home if the xponder didn't come up eventually).

Does this sound about right? Any similar experiences?

Tks
