Is it acceptable to have ”any” oil getting into a magneto? After flight and letting the plane sit overnight I was regularly finding a drip of oil hanging from my dual mag where the mag case & cap meet. When wiped dry another drip would show up again after a couple of hours so it became clear that the source of oil was from inside the mag. This mag was on a factory rebuilt with 100 hrs on it so was under warranty. The mag was replaced by Kelly Aerospace and now I am finding the same drip of oil on the replacement mag. A tech at Kelly told me they thought the oil was seeping into the mag through the threads of one of the screws that hold the drive/impulse coupling mechanism in place. When the original mag was removed to ship it to Kelly we noted that there was very little oil in the mag housing & the gears, coils, points, etc. were dry.
Is this acceptable or do I need to make another warranty claim & get this second mag replaced? Thanks for your consideration & input. David
