Question: I am using a sort of shadetree A&P for this job. We are almost done with it now. I bought all the parts myself, he supplied nothing but labor and I will have managed all of the 140 screws, in and out. He disconnected the main fuel lines and reconnected the new, he changed the fuel sender gaskets and safety wired them up, and he changed the rubber on the fuel vent tubes. Oh and he also pulled the draincocks from the bottom to drain out the 15 or so gallons that were in each tank before we could pull them. And of course, it'll be his signature in the book when we're done.

We haven't talked money yet. He's a "cash" sort of guy. What would be the going rate for this type of work? He stands around a lot, so clock time isn't valid. I think if I compressed everything he did, he probably did 3-4 hours of actual work. $85 an hr, so maybe $300-400?

Just looking for a sort of market rate for this level of work. Any A&P's on the board: What would you think is fair for "assisting" someone with SB1006, they supply parts? I don't want to insult him nor do I want to give my money away and I'm still pretty new to paying for airplane work.
