Compatibility of G5 with GPS155XL

So, I’ve been looking into this issue for a bit, and I know a few people on the experimental side have been able to hack the G5 into compatibility with this older IFR navigator.

I saw this thread today on VAF (I realize it’s an experimental site), and it appears it was written by one of their resident Garmin employees:

Has anybody heard further about this coming live for the certificates side? This would allow a great phased upgrade for my NSD360, without having to do a 530 at the same time.
