Did a search, couldn't find specifics.

Is it legal to install 8.5 CR pistons on a Cherokee 235 (constant speed prop) O-540-B5B1 engine? My understanding is that would merely make it into a -A1D5 and can be done via 337? Would the engine have to be governed down to 2400 in order to retain the 235HP rating, or would one legally be able to keep running it at 2575 (which would now yield 250HP).

Figured 6 x 8.5CR pistons on a Charger/Pathfinder is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a Dakota. What say you?
