I have decided to completely refurbish my seats, all 4 of them, while my airplane is in annual in a few months. Feels like the perfect time.
My question relates to the rear seats, specifically. The ones that came with the airplane when I bought it are actually comprised of two separate pieces. The seat backs are bolted to the rear seat board via hinges and will pivot down and up. But, the seat bottoms just sort of lay there. They are not connected at all. If you wanted those bases removed, you'd just simply pull them out with only a hand and toss aside. When I see finished seat kits, Airtex, for example, I am seeing rear seats that stand alone. In other words, you can pick the whole thing up as one seat. Mine are not that way. They only look like a completed seat when the seat back is raised and the seat bottom is laid down into position.
Is this right?
If not, I probably need to buy something else for the rear. Are there rear seat frames for these or were they just cushioning on a board backing originally?
Example below. You can see that the rear seats on the right are freestanding and standalone. Mine are not like that. I don't know that these came from a 140 though. Perhaps they did not.
These are my seats below. You can see on the left the seat bottoms that go in the rear. The backs are still bolted in when I took this shot. But those bottoms just get tossed in there and sort of wedged up under the bottom of the seat back.
