I am looking for some ideas about a confusing issue with my 81 Archer with 0360-A4M. We just finished having the engine overhauled and reinstalled. On the maiden flight, as well as the follow up flight, the panel mount CO detector was indicating between 12 and 18 ppm of Co with the heater and defroster OFF. When I would turn the heater or defroster ON the reading would go back to normal. The heater flapper door works as it should, and appears to seal well, the hoses are in good shape, and the mufflers were replaced about 8 years ago. This problem seems completely opposite of what should be happening. We had no issues before the overhaul. We are perplexed. Any suggestions?
