I was contemplating putting on my winterization plate and decided to go through the motions as I'd never done it before. In doing so, I dropped a screw into the cowl. Spent 90 minutes fishing around for that thing before I finally found it. But, in doing so, I encountered what appears to be a VERY loose carb heat valve.

That thing below with the two screws in it that I am shining the light on is very wobbly. The entire piece wobbles. The knob on the dash does operate the vavle. I am able to get an acceptable RPM drop on run up. But, I'll admit, I don't have a baseline with which to compare this thing. This deep into the cowl is usually outside the scope of my preflight inspections. I just happened to notice due to fishing around for that screw.

I posted this picture on the Piper facebook group with several responses that this doesn't look right. Gonna have my IA take a look ASAP, but wanted to post on here for any commentary as well. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. Is this another one of the previous owner's hack jobs?
