I have an IFD 540 for primary navigation. And FF on iPad.

Many times on IFR plans, ATC would come back and ask me what would be my direct heading for certain fix, which could be way down the list in my flight plan. While they are trying to get me direct shortcut, the only way I can look at direct heading is to hit direct on iPad and look at desired heading.

Is there a better way to find it without ruining my programmed flight plan? Assuming I am flying on GPSS and wouldn’t want to disrupt my current direct waypoint on primary GPS.
