Broke the com antenna on the belly of the plane. Can using it as is, if not effecting the Com, hurt the radio?

I was washing the plane yesterday and accidentally caught the tip of the metal rod breaking it just past the bend towards the rear. It looked as if it had a previous stress crack and didn't take much to break. I took the plane up in the pattern and it did not effect the performance of the radios (KX155). I have a new one on order but have a flight scheduled for this Monday and was seeking guidance on wether a shortened antenna could damage the radio in any way. Swapping out the antenna seems straight forward with 4 bolts and the BNC connector. any thoughts would be appreciated.
