I have a Brackett Air filter on my PA-28 235. Like other posts have pointed out, it is an oily mess and of questionable utility filtering fine particles. The fiber glass structure of the box is warped and flimsy, and if I put the Donaldson oval filter into the same filter housing box, it leaves >.5" gaps in some places between the edge of the rigid paper filter. With the Bracket, this gap is covered and filled by some of the foam.

Has anyone had this same problem when trying to improve their filtering element? Is there an STC for alternative filter box to the Brackett?
