Acquired a 1966 Cherokee 180 a 10 years ago and have been putting very little time on it because of work constraints. Long story short, the plane has 1960 Hrs TT as does the original engine. The mechanic that does the annuals tells me that it is time for an overhaul, not so much because of the engine's condition, but more because it is 50 years old. Was hoping to get another year out of it but maybe not. Anyway, is it better to get this engine overhauled by a reputable builder or is it better to go to Lycoming for a zero time engine? I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks,
