I am planning a big Caribbean overwater trip. I have a raft and vests, but some of the legs are rather long and I am looking for the best altitude for fuel economy (MPG) at near full power.

I normally fly at 11-12K. Is that going to be better than 8 or 9K?

I'd rather stay below O2 levels and am comfortable at 12K for long flights.

Instinct says higher is better, but just looking for confirmation.

I am not fuel injected so will be running ROP.
