I'm having a backup AI installed in my PA-32. It is mainly because I'm starting IFR training and I really don't like the thought of losing vacuum pump in the clouds. I'm installing a Sandia Quatro. This is an awesome little unit (adding 3 other critical functions with a batter backup). My question is where should I locate it? I have an available spot just to the left of the yoke on the pilot side and I have an open spot to the far right of the panel.

My wife as requested it go on the far right so she has some instruments if she takes the controls while we fly or if I choke on a peppermint (she has had the pinch hitter course and can land in an emergency).

My CFI said put it on the pilot side so I can clearly see it if the vacuum pump does go out.

Recommendations and opinions appreciated.
