My 140 had been sitting in a 20* hangar for week and was reluctant to start. After over-priming it "backfired" big time and started. Post flight I leaned to kill the engine as usual. It would almost kill, but then rev a bit and continue to run, this repeated until I finally turned off the ignition.

My question: Could the big backfire have blown out a gasket on the carburetor? Thus allowing some gas to get thru continuing to fuel the plugs.

Thanks
