I am considering adding a standby alternator to my Saratoga since I fly in IMC quite a bit. I have a Mooney M20M also and it has duel batteries and alternators(which run concurrently) which is great peace of mind. I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the standby alternator offered by B&C Specialty products and if so what are the pros and cons with installation, operation, etc. I added an electrically operated standby vacuum system some years ago replacing the one which the previous owner installed that was regulated by manifold pressure, and am very happy with it and have had to use it in IMC. A backup alternator would really go far to complete the redundancy picture.

Any and all input is appreciated!

Regards, Frank
