I posted this in another forum but got no responses. Maybe here, I will get some feedback, since a lot of PA28's and PA32's have Garmin 430/530 paired systems.

For anyone else, like me, considering swapping out their Garmin 430/530 pair with Avidyne "440/540" units to get WAAS and and a greatly improved user interface, I just found out about Avidyne's brand new IFD 550.

It can do synthetic vision functions like their Entegra R9 big sibling. They keep adding a lot of the R9 functions to the IFD boxes. Amazing...

If you've already done a Garmin===>Avidyne swap, what was your experience?
