Auxilliary Power Units for Avionics Fiddling

I would like to sit in the airplane outside the hangar and piddle with my new avionics.

I have a 1965 Cherokee Six.

I've found this APU at Sporty's:

Would this be a good choice?

There are some options for the plugin for the airplane.

I am certainly open to other products. Seems a little pricey but the avionics in the airplane are very pricey.
