I was out with my CFI a few days ago looking at power settings in different configurations as we get the ball rolling for IFR training. I did a couple hand flown timed 360's and did a pretty nice job. Out of curiosity we tested the AP (Century 41 - 3 axis) that is coupled to the garmin 530. I simply put it in heading mode with altitude hold on. Hit the timer and turned the heading bug to make the AP chase it in a circle. The left turn was pretty much spot on banking into a 17 degree turn and coming in with a great time. The right turn was steep. It was just a little over 30 degrees and waaaay to much turn for IFR operations.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what would cause the turn rates to be different for each direction.

My AP otherwise functions just fine tracking approaches just like I want.
