Because it happened in a populated area, unusual sounds, and everyone has a cell phone now, there's truly terrifying videos that show a stall and flat spin. Lots of discussion on the professional rumor networks about the ATR-72 record for icing and the difficulty for recovering from a spin in a twin. Some evidence that the pilots attempted to recover with differential thrust at the end.

Anyone had experience in spin recovery in a twin?
