altimatic iii c - sometimes do not engage

hi there ,
my altimatic iiic usually works great (seneca 2) . recently ,sometimes do not engage .
yesterday morning worked for 2 hours perfect , landed and flew again to find that it is not responding .
the roll works but hdg and pitch and alt d'ont . all l the 4 knobes turns on .
happened last week than for 5 flights worked ok . yesterday again ..
your thoughts ?
