So for you mechanics and AIs out there. I was having my Pitot tube swapped out for a heated pitot tube. A mechanic tried to put it in on Sunday and found that it needs some modification to the plate to install it. He put the airplane back together and planned on coming back to the pitot tube when he could get a spot in the shop to work on it.
Went to go fly the airplane yesterday and I had no airspeed indicator. Did a roll out and went track to the ramp to see if it was blocked. Made sure the tube was clear and tried another roll out. No joy. Called the mechanic who owns the shop and told him what was happening. He sighed and said he has a new mechanic there and he was the one who worked on my plane. He said he suspects that the guy reversed my pitot and static connections when he put it back together
My question is will that damage my airspeed indicator? I did 2 roll outs to about 55 mph (estimate). I just had my biannual pressure certs done 2 weeks ago. Do they now have to be redone? I was obviously not happy about any of this. Thanks.
