Hi All,

I fly a 1963 Pa28-180, and on a recent flight my air filter/landing light assembly fell off in cruise flight. I felt a bump when it happened, but the airplane continued flying and I landed uneventfully.

It left a relatively small dent in the prop as well as a couple of scractches. My mechanic is going to inspect everything carefully, but mentioned that if the prop doesn't look good it will be considered a prop strike and that I'll need to contact my insurance company.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I can't imagine how the air filter/landing light assembly could just fall off of any aircraft.

Thanks in advance for your info.

Bill
