Finally got around to getting this done. Called up a shop at Wilmington DE (KILG) with a guy who had done really good work for me and a friend in the past. The shop is flyAdvanced and they now have Dale Coller who had been at Red Eagle. Dave’s wife Joann coordinates the schedules and is very familiar with the various avionics manufacturers and options.
I called them back in June to set up a window. Since the the install is actually straightforward for the configuration in my aircraft (GHS530W & GTX330) they expected it to be a one day job. They had a nearly new GTX330 on hand that had been upgraded by Garmin so I didn’t need to down the plane to get that sent off beforehand.
They got a slack window and I went up today, just after 7:00am, and the plane was in work by 7:30. It was done at 11:30. They also did a complete IFR P-S check at my request and fixed a loose ground on a mic jack.
Took off for home at 1230 and at 1430 had an FAA report that the ADS-B performance was perfect.
Great day, except for the bill...
