Pre buys are what you ask for.  I get asked to borescope cylinders and basically DO an annual.  That is more expensive...   I also get asked to "make sure the wings are not falling off".  I can do a quick pre buy like that without even pulling compressions... just run it and then evaluate 4 or 6 compression events "pulling the prop through".  I can also tell a lot about a plane by flying it... A quick look at the logs and you can get a sense of whether it was really maintained or if Daryl's other brother Daryl was the main mechanic assisted by various hanger gremlins...


Need to know pre buy cost and what was asked for before judging the guy.


Whoever is asking just needs to know what they want...
